Built around three pair of JL Audio 7.7-inch tower speakers, this Supra sounds incredible. The owner wasn’t concerned with the absolute loudest speakers at 80 feet. He did want the very best sounding tower speakers when kicked back behind the swimdeck. Accuracy wise the JL 7.7 T’s (tower version) are in a class by themselves. Listening to these standing on the swimdeck will give you goosebumps… no kidding. Three pair happen to play seriously loud too.
To load the JL’s we used Bullet spun aluminum pods with the accompanying tweeter pods. Twelve billet aluminum grills provide a custom identity. Everything, including collars, top caps, pods and grills, were powdercoated black. Even the interior baskets of the mids and tweets were dyed black.
At the helm a JL Audio W6 10-inch sub is concealed behind this custom vent. A Gothic ‘S’ and oval grill feature a brushed face with polished edges and is clearcoated. A black acrylic trim ring , stainless steel mesh, vinyl clad birch elevation ring and black piping provide depth and contrast. Full foot and leg room is maintained. The floor hump was not modified.
A similar but smaller vent at the rear exhausts a second JL 10W6 sub. The down-firing sub enclosure is wrapped in the factory carpet.
Two JL slash/series five-channels and one four-channel drive the system. The limited edition amplifiers with black chassis runs consistent with the theme.
An enclosure contains three Optima batteries, all blue tops, two stereo deep cycle and one cranking. An on-board battery charger restores the batteries to full charge when put up in dry storage.
In the pass-thru a pair of JL coaxials are recessed into bolsters covered in the factory vinyl and trimmed with piping. This new location helps bring the cockpit image forward. There are eight JL coaxials installed within the boat.
The transom vents double as lit up tail lights using indirect blue LEDs.
All the factory courtesy lights were changed out to blue with several new fixtures added.
